Andreas Wargenbrant

Andréas Wargenbrant, who was born and raised in Helsingborg Sweden, is self-taught. He is primarily known for his sculptural works in metals such as bronze, copper and cast iron, which have been surface treated to create a rustic, patinated surface. The methods involve, among other things, letting the sculptures dry outdoors for a long time and processing with different abrasives.

His breakthrough came in 2010 with his interpretation of the classic Dala horse in etched bronze, which was sold at Bukowskis. Motifs are often animals such as dogs, birds and horses, but money is also a central theme of the art.

His metal mural, One dollar, was featured in a longer exhibit at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. In Germany, his sculpture Ocean 1 was selected by Unesco to represent a world heritage and it is now in Hamburg. Gigantic versions of his art can be found in shop premises and foyers, such as the two-metre high gold patinated shoe My love to Louboutin at Boman’s hotel in Trosa.
